NIAGARA FALLS RC FAMILY OF PARISHES INFORMATION

PASTOR JIM'S MESSAGE

Brothers and Sisters,

This evening, September 9th, we received the final recommendations for the merging and closing of parishes. This has been and continues to be a difficult and painful time in our diocese. I ask you to continue to grow in your relationship with Christ and trust in the Holy Spirit. I will share with you the final recommendations for our family of parishes.

Projected number of priests for our family by 2030 is two priests.

1. Divine Mercy will merge with Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and close.

2. St Mary of the Cataract will merge with Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

3. The Our Lady of Mt Carmel site of Holy Family will be closed and sold.

4. St John de LaSalle will merge with St Vincent de Paul. Closure and sale of the church and rectory of St John de LaSalle. 

5. St John de LaSalle ministry center and school building could be retained following an evaluation of the need of the family. 

The parishes open in the family will be St Vincent de Paul and Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph 

The secondary worship sites will be St Mary of the Cataract and St Leo.

Parish merging and closure will be St John de LaSalle and Divine Mercy.

Secondary worship sites will have their weekend and daily Masses along with events that are normally done in parishes.

More information will be available in the coming days and weeks along with some clarification on a few points. I will have more information in my pastor's column this week, which will be posted on our parish websites. Again, I ask that you continue to pray about these matters. Know that you are all in my prayers.
